This past weekend I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Maine to photograph Rachel and David’s wedding. While I plug away at editing their collection (hoping to post their pictures tomorrow or Thursday, so be on the lookout!), I’d like to share some pictures from the bed and breakfast my sister and I stayed in while visiting Portland.
AWESOME! It’s the one word I’ve been using to describe the Pomegranate Inn. Neither my sister nor I had ever stayed at a bed and breakfast, so this was a first for us. And boy were we blown away by our experience! Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly and helpful innkeeper who encouraged us to enjoy the complimentary coffee, tea and cookies, and then walk down to the heart of Portland through the safe and quiet neighborhood surrounding the inn. We shared a bunch of oo’s and ah’s as we explored our beautifully decorated room and the various sitting rooms of the inn. The owners were very friendly and made us feel right at home during breakfasts. Dana, one of the owners, does all the cooking and she won us over with her impressive and delicious food. Alongside the amazing breakfasts, we also had the opportunity to chat with other guests and hear their stories of exploration in the Portland area.
Overall, staying at the Pomegranate Inn was AWESOME, amazing, delicious, comfortable and delightful! After this bed and breakfast experience, I’m not sure I want to go back to staying in a regular hotel. The inn felt so warm, welcoming and home-y, which was perfect while staying in a new and completely unfamiliar part of the country. If you’re traveling to the Portland, ME area anytime in the future, definitely consider staying at the Pomegranate Inn. If you’re looking for a new getaway destination, definitely consider Portland. I can’t say enough about our wonderful experience.
I’d love to have a black and white checkered floor in our home someday…
The bookshelves were not only filled with old books, but classic board games. How inviting!
Now for the dining room where we ate some of the most delicious food I’ve ever had!
Only in a bed and breakfast can you have leopard print carpet on the stairs. My sister and I agreed that’s one good reason to start a B&B.
The Pomegranate Inn is located in the West End of Portland. The neighborhood was filled with big old homes and made for a very peaceful and safe environment.
Poached pear for breakfast!
This was my first frittata and it was delish! The honeydew was also super flavorful.
Dana, one of the owners, actually has a cookbook! Check out her website here. She’s a true gem!
I’ve never seen such tile work in a home before! This is my kind of fireplace.
An elephant decor piece in one of the bedrooms? Sure, why not!?
We loved the flower-painted walls! Only in a B&B would this be oh-so appropriate.
Instead of Ocean City, Virginia Beach or Myrtle Beach (for all you east coasters), consider a trip up north for the summer. Our experience in Portland, ME was a welcomed surprise and I cannot wait to go back…and stay at the Pomegranate, of course!
