If I Had An Office…

I stumbled upon HGTV’s Design Star last night when they were designing an office for Kris Jenner. First off, I love Kris Jenner’s super short do and personal style. She always has BIG earrings on and is usually dressed in something sparkly. If I was older and more “big league” like her, I might consider doing the same. So back to designing her office…

I didn’t get to watch the full episode, but I did see enough to want to design my own office space! The designers put together bold, beautiful rooms for Kris and I kinda wish a team of designers could do the same for me! HA! Unfortunately we’re in a two-bedroom apartment right now, so my office is shared by our bedroom (because Ally occupies the other bedroom) and there’s no space for having or designing something grand. But someday (we’re hoping to have a house in the next 18 months) I’ll have something that represents me, my brand and will be functional for handling business!

Before moving into our apartment, I had two different offices in our first house. The first office was upstairs in our extra bedroom:

The red ottoman/chairs came from Marshalls…$30 each! I was so excited about that bargain!

Bridgewater College diplomas and one of my favorite wedding gifts! Thanks for the picture, Bethany and Samantha! It’s so me! :)

These are shower curtain holders from Ikea! Such a great way to hang art.

The desk also came from Ikea. I think it was like $250 and was fairly easy to put together (maybe not if you ask my husband). I haven’t been back to Ikea since, but I’m hoping another trip is in our future soon. :)

This was one of my favorite parts of the office. I was Student Body President at Bridgewater College. I loved that place and loved that job. It’s also one of the last things I have with my maiden name on it.

After we found out we were pregnant in 2010, we knew the guest bedroom would become the baby’s room and my office would become the guest bedroom. Good thing we had some unfinished space in the bottom floor so I could still have an office! Here’s what the second JFP office looked like before:

And here’s what it looked like after!

Quite a difference, right? I loved my yellow office and the chair railing and shadow box walls. It was a great little getaway and a nice place to have client meetings. Unfortunately, I was only in that office for eight months because the following year we moved.

The design of Kris Jenner’s new office and the look back at my old office spaces got me thinking about what I’d really love to have as an office space in the future. I started a board of JFP office ideas on Pinterest and I really hope I get to bring them to life when we get a house.

I definitely want something fun, fresh and colorful…the three words I use to describe my business and photography style. I want a bunch of white! White furniture, white walls (with a little bit of color…maybe a wall of stripes or polka dots?) and white trim. Of course I don’t want it to be a stark white, boring space so there will definitely be COLOR! I LOVE COLOR! I’ll try not to overdo it with color because I want something light and airy, but it must have personality and be pretty. So pinks, blues and yellows…my fave colors and the colors of my biz! And colorful accessories and prints! Here are some ideas and inspiration from my Pinterest board:

I’m determined to find a super fab chair or couch like this one! It would be such a great centerpiece and conversation piece for the room. And it’s so me! :)

This grand and beautiful JFP office may be far off in the future, but it’s fun to put ideas together and dream. :) Thank goodness for Pinterest, right!?!
