Genesis & Daniel: Hotel Morgan Wedding, Morgantown, WV Wedding Photographer

Genesis contacted me just a couple of months ago. She was afraid I’d already be booked for she and Dan’s wedding day, but I wasn’t. I was super excited for their wedding because not only was it going to be intimate and unique, but it was also my second Morgantown wedding of the year. Since moving to West Virginia last September, the market has been good to me and I’ve booked a number of Morgantown area weddings for both this year and next. Between the two Morgantown weddings and the engagement sessions I’ve done so far, the area is quickly turning into an unexpected gem.

Genesis and Dan were married at their home. How cool is that? They had just enough outdoor space to host an intimate ceremony for their guests and they said “I do” overlooking the city of Morgantown. After lots of hugs and kisses from Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Uruguayan family and friends, we opted to take pictures at the bridge where Daniel proposed. It made a beautiful backdrop and we captured some truly beautiful portraits of the new happy couple. :)

I thoroughly enjoyed Genesis and Dan’s wedding day. It wasn’t my typical 8-hour+ wedding day, it was smaller and seemed to have a lot less fluff and fuss. Not that I don’t enjoy the fluff and fuss, but it was a good break from the usual. My favorite part of the day was their reception. They celebrated on the rooftop of the Clarion Hotel Morgan in downtown Morgantown. String lights were hung along the walls, guests relaxed in black iron chairs and tables, hors d’oeuvres were enjoyed and cocktails were sipped. It was a Mediterranean-like setting and it made for some beautiful pictures! ENJOY!

Genesis’ mom arrived and starting taking pictures right away. I immediately liked her. :)

Check out this brilliant idea! It’s a boutonniere! Instead of the pesky, typical boutonnieres that are super hard to actually pin on people, their florist made the boutonnieres into easy slip-ins for the guys’ jacket pockets! No pins required!

Friends attending the wedding via Skype! They even dressed for the event…love it!

A ceremony outside at their home…

The rainy clouds gave way to this beautiful evening light!

On to the bridge where Daniel proposed. Definitely one of the best photo locations in Morgantown!

Genesis whipped out her fierce model face that I was completely unaware she had! Love surprises like that! :)

A favorite from the day!

I love the next series of portraits. Genesis and Daniel were so easy to photograph and they took direction so well. They made this look so natural and beautiful. :)

Now for their little reception soiree. I just loved the atmosphere!

Time for the toasts! There were three and they were all so great! Genesis and Dan laughed, smiled and even cried. Made for some really great captures…

So romantic!

Genesis and Dan, you guys were just lovely! I greatly enjoyed my time at your wedding and I thank you for letting me be a part of it. Hopefully I’ll bump into you around Morgantown sometime. :)
